The water softener was installed to protect against the hard
water, but a single line of un-softened water goes to the kitchen to provide
drinking water with no salt. There is a sump tank and pump, which is connected
to the weeping tile around the house to drain the rain water which is pumped
to the front of the house under the lawn.
